Workshop: Exhausted Parents, Mischievous Children

Workshop: Exhausted Parents, Mischievous Children

Workshop: "Exhausted Parents, Mischievous Children"

How parental exhaustion affects children's behavior and emotions

CONTEXT

Parents are exhausted, it is undeniable and indisputable. We hear it in therapy consultations, in friend confessions, on social media. We have never had as much quality of life as today, but we have never lived with so much haste and pressure. The tyranny of time, productivity, efficiency, and perfection transform parenting into something heavy, difficult, and with negative consequences for children and parents.

Therefore, we have prepared this art therapy workshop for parents. It is an invitation to sit for 3 hours without the pressure of the clock strangling us.

We know that parents who work through their emotions, expectations, fears, beliefs, desires, and behavioral patterns are more conscious and present parents with less need to control their children. They are parents who better understand their children and can decide at each moment what direction to take in a conscious manner.

Myla and Jon Kabat-Zin refer to in their book “Everyday Blessings” that “all children come to the world with their own qualities, characteristics, and temperament. As parents, we must recognize that each one is a unique being. We must honor them, accept them as they are, without trying to change them, no matter how difficult it may be.” This does not imply the absence of rules, but rather knowing how to transmit rules and love at the same time. And that is indeed challenging!

We will then make available to parents a completely judgment-free space where they can learn about themselves and their children, but, and above all, it will be a space for them to feel and try to be the parents they want to be, making small or big changes in their parenting.

And why an art therapy workshop? Because art is a privileged vehicle for entering into contact with ourselves, our desires, qualities, anxieties, and insecurities and for looking at ourselves, transforming us. Additionally, art is something innate to the human being and children explore it with much naturalness and satisfaction. This will allow you to try, in a safe environment, new ways of connecting with your children. But do not worry, you do not need any special artistic skills, just come available and curious.

We are waiting for you!
